24.1.07: My new old phone
I can’t believe how good it feels to have a Samsung D500 again. After my old one got stolen from me on the way home from the Christmas party last year, I’ve been resigned to using my LG chocolate. The chocolate was the phone that came with my new contract. But I hate it. It’s completely a case of all style, no substance; the pinnacle of which is it’s stupidly over sensitive touchy feely interface. Bleurgh. My contempt for it is bounded only by the fact it was there when I needed it, which is hardly an accolade worth fighting for in the personal electronics department.
However, today it’s been made ebay fodder, as a second hand Samsung D500 finally made it’s way to me. Now all I need to do is work out whether I want to accept the challenge of taking it apart in order to change the ‘definitely used’ aesthetic of it’s current fascia in to something more shiny.
7.11.05: Can anyone play guitar?
I’ve decided that I want to learn guitar again. The work social club had an offer on for a 10 week course for £60, but after faffing around enquiring about it, I failed to sign up in time. I’m going to give it the best shot I can on my own again, and for that I need to make my practicing portable, if I’ve any chance of learning. So I guess that means I’ll be needing one of these mini Marshall amps, and although it’s not got a brand I kind of like the look of this 3w sliver ‘hip-flask’ shaped one.
6.11.05: Gonzo: The Art
Fresh from my trip to Vegas, I’ve been reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by self-styled ‘Gonzo Journalist’, Hunter S. Thompson. It’s filled with drawings by Thompson’s illustrator buddy - Ralph Steadman - who has collated his work in Gonzo: The Art.

While I’m waiting the release of the 20″ version, the small version of Pete Fowler’s snorse might have to fill the gap.
6.11.05: Andrew Bell stuff
I stumbled across the work of Andrew Bell when I was looking about for some more vinyl toys. Octane 3 sell a couple of his bits, like the nude groob and ‘Now You’ve Done It‘ - his book of illustrations.
