24.3.07: SimpleTwitter: A plugin for WordPress

So, this is my first WordPress plug in. It doesn’t do much, but what it does do I think it does ok.

It solves the problem of this (and any other) wordpress blog having to connect to twitter.com on every page view to serve the same message/tweet/whatever through the Javascript badge, on the off chance there’s been an update.

Click here for more info, and to download the SimpleTwitter plug in.

I use this functionality on the speech bubble at the top of the page, and I generally don’t post more than once a day. The plug in allows you to specify a twitter user (by twitter user name) whose tweets should be grabbed, and a time (in minutes) after which to check for updates. It’s that simple.

If you use this, it’d be great to know. If you find any problems, it’d be great to know. If you’ve got any ideas on how to make it better, it’d be great to know. Maybe post a little comment on this page. It comes with no warranty whatsoever, so use it at your own discretion.

There is more info in the plug-in’s page, here.
